E is for… Entrepreneurialism

Wow! That’s probably one of the biggest words I’ve ever used, and meant.

I apologize for the lack of Illustration Friday entries lately, I guess I’m having a hard time recovering from the holiday and remodeling my bathroom. It’s all done now though, I just need to catch my breath.

This week’s IF entry is something old, but there’s some news attached to it. I did this Shakespeare Illustration a while back, but I just signed a non-exclusive licensing contract to allow an online store, Shakespeare’s Den to produce and sell products featuring this art. This is a very exciting experience and I’m anxious to see how it turns out.

As long as I’m going on about entrepreneurialism, I though I’d mention another endeavor of mine that I just did a site redesign of.

A While a ago, a friend of ours was getting married and I was asked to design a wedding announcement for her. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (as am I) and she wanted an image of the Temple she was going to be married in on her announcement. Because of time constraints I wanted to find something that was already drawn to use, but I couldn’t find anything that I could legally use that I thought was good enough, so I went ahead and did one for her announcement.

After I did that, I thought that there’s probably a lot of people like me who could really use an image like that, so I started doing more illustrations and selling them from my web site for people to use for their own personal use.

They don’t sell like hotcakes (whatever that means), but sales have been picking up a bit — at least enough to make me think I need to start making more.

Anyhow, that’s my story. Entrepreneurialism as I see it.
